Welcome to the Software Team!
We work on all things software development related as part of Satellite Lab, including Development, Integration, and Testing, for TeraLink and a variety of supporting and R&D projects.
In many ways, Software is the glue that connects the subsystems of our satellite, from CDH to Comms, into a single cohesive unit.

A reviewer from the University Nano-satellite Program once said: “Without software, your satellite is just a box of electronics!”

As such, the work we do is highly interdisciplinary, and regardless of your background there will be a way to contribute!
Our task board can be found below:
New members, check out the following:
Our work on the software team can be split into three main focus areas: Flight Software Development, Ground Station Software Development, and Infra Development. Each of these contribute directly to the capabilities of our missions.

Flight Software consists of all of the software which will be running directly on our satellite. This generally involves embedded development, using C/C++ with Frameworks such as FreeRTOS, ZephyrRTOS, F Prime, and Embedded Linux, and performing rigorous hardware and software in the loop testing to ensure that our software meets our requirements, and is error-free.
In addition to general software development, opportunities exist for more specialized subsystem specific integration (such as packetization with comms, and ADCS algorithms). If this interests you, please reach out to @Sandhya Moorthi

Ground Station software is a catch all for all of the software work involved in our Ground Station. This ranges from Embedded GNU Radio work, to Full Stack development, to Cloud Operations with AWS and similar platforms. Expect to work with a wide range of industry standard tools and technologies, such as C/C++, Python, Go, and Java in terms of languages, and Docker, Kubernetes, Redis in terms of platforms.
This team will attend the weekly Ground Station working group meetings, to better collaborate with the rest of the ground station efforts. If working on these tasks, ensure that you attend. If you’re interested in ground station software, reach out to @Orlando LuPone

Infrastructure represents all the supporting technologies, pipelines, and capabilities which support our mission-wide work. This includes embedded linux image development, pipelining with CI/CD, developing and integrating unit, subsystem, and system level tests, and more.
The overall goal of this team is to establish project-wide capabilities which ensure the correctness, rigor, and ease our of work. If you have any ideas for additional capabilities, reach out to @Sandhya Moorthi
