PROVES Atlas (Completed)

To acquire the PROVES satellite assembly, please go to the page above and download the .zip from the CAD repository.

Out camera is positioned like this at the bottom of the satellite. the lens is jutting out < 2 mm.

We must finish the design of a launch-compliant mount.

We need this mount to be structurally sound (does not deflect or vibrate too much).

Previous Ideas

Work to do

  1. design a new mount platform. leave a big clearance like in the CAD above, because a connector strip passes through there.
    1. Please have DFMA principles in mind when designing this! (in other words, look at how things meant for CNC machining are designed and don’t make impossible designs, haha).
    2. make multiple part assemblies if needed!
    3. If you have a solution requiring screws/fasteners, please use the SolidWorks ToolBox > ISO > Metric Fasteners for now.
  2. look at the frame and mount and come up with MULTIPLE concepts for how to mount this frame to a surface (the frames) perpendicular to it. Interesting basic design challenge! Alternatively, tell me why you think we would want to machine new holes into the frame.
    1. consider the DFMA trade offs here.
  3. look at HELICOILS, INSERTS - see if you would implement them into your design.
  4. Share results to Laura. We will review your design, and then proceed to launch compliance analysis / FEA.
