This is our payload / magnetorquer board CAD. It’s responsible for both the payload and our specific ADCS, just to save on space. (Note: in space engineering, this is usually NOT a good idea: you want things to be modular - if a PCB fails, you don’t want too many things dependent on it... but here, we’re okay because we know what we’re doing and the system isn’t complex.)
change the rods to 2.5 inch lengths each.
center each rod on the mounting holes and please send me a photo from top down view.
make the rods elevated from the board 1-2mm (adjustable) - distance mate
re-design the aircoil based on me and Madhav’s specifications.
Examples: look at AirCoil - Air Torquer - Magnetorquer | SatCatalog. Projects | Alex Boehm
please design a way to fasten the rods and the aircoil together. Ie, some sort of clamp mechanism around the rods? feel free to adjust the aircoil design specifically for this feature. A lot of freedom here.
Determine: should the aircoil be 3D printed with HP PA-12 Nylon, or machined with Al6061? I want you to report to me the pros and cons of each method, specifically within a space engineering context. I’m curious what you come up with!
